Privacy policy
1. Who we are
TestNMeasure is made by Blaris ApS, a Danish company (CVR DK41627328, Hvidegårdsparken 42, 2800 Kongens Lyngby, Denmark). Blaris ApS publishes the apps, operates this website and is the data controller for the personal data described here.
Contact us about privacy at support@testnmeasure.app or hello@blaris.com. Blaris ApS is not required to appoint a data protection officer, and has not done so.
2. The short version
- You don't need an account. Every free feature works without one.
- Your measurements stay on your phone unless you turn on sync.
- No ads, no tracking SDKs, and we never sell your data.
- Optional usage statistics never include your readings, names, notes, photos or locations, and you can turn them off.
- You can export or delete everything at any time.
3. The apps without an account
- Bluetooth. The app connects to your meter only when you ask it to. Readings, logs, templates, test files, photos and voice notes are stored on your device, in the app's private storage.
- Location permission on Android 8–11. These Android versions require location permission before an app may scan for Bluetooth devices. TestNMeasure asks for it only for that reason; it never reads or stores your location.
- Photos. When you attach a photo to a reading, its location data (EXIF) is removed by default.
- Microphone. Used only while you record a voice note.
4. Accounts and sync
An account is optional. You need one only for sync, the web app and using TestNMeasure Pro on more than one device.
- Sign-in. You sign in with Apple, with Google, or with a code we send to your email address. We receive your email address, a name if you choose to share it, and an identifier from the sign-in provider. The sign-in code email is sent through Microsoft 365 (Blaris ApS's own tenant).
- What syncs. When sync is on: your instruments, sessions and readings, templates, test runs, calculations, attachments (photos and voice notes) and app preferences.
- Where. On servers rented from Hetzner in the EU (data centres in Germany or Finland). Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and each account's data is kept separate from every other account's.
- How long. As long as your account exists. If a Pro subscription lapses, already-synced data stays available to you, read-only, for 12 months. When you delete your account, your data becomes inaccessible at once and is erased from our servers within 30 days; backups age out within a further 35 days.
5. Usage statistics and crash reports (apps and web app)
- First-party only. Statistics go to our own server. There is no third-party analytics or advertising SDK in any of our apps.
- What is counted. Things like: the app was opened, the demo meter was started, a meter model connected, a reading was captured (and how: tap, auto, hold or manual), a test run was started, completed or abandoned, an export was made and in which format, a file was shared or imported, the calculator was used, the upgrade screen was shown, a purchase was started or completed, a sign-in method was used, and sync was turned on. Counts and durations are rounded into ranges.
- What is never sent. Reading values, labels, notes, template or file names, photos, locations or your meter's Bluetooth address.
- Identifier. A random install identifier, which changes if you reinstall the app. If you are signed in, your account identifier is attached.
- Your choice. Statistics are on by default and can be turned off in Settings. When they are off, no statistics leave your device.
- Crash and error reports. On by default; you can switch them off in Settings → Privacy. The apps and the web app send crash and error reports to our own server only (no third-party crash SDK). Reports are stripped of your content and kept for 90 days.
- Feedback. A diagnostics bundle (app and phone versions, meter model and firmware, recent raw Bluetooth packets and log lines) is sent only when you press "Send feedback", after you have seen what it contains.
6. Purchases
TestNMeasure Pro is sold and billed by Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play). We receive transaction identifiers and the status of your subscription so we can unlock Pro. We never receive your card or payment details.
7. This website
- This site sets no cookies, has no forms and loads no third-party scripts.
- Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, records aggregate traffic statistics at its network edge (page views and referring sites, without a script and without cookies) and keeps its own security logs to protect the site.
- Mail to [email protected]. Cloudflare Email Routing forwards it to a Blaris ApS mailbox in Microsoft 365. We use your message only to answer you and keep it as long as needed for that, and no longer than 24 months after our last exchange.
8. Processors and transfers
We use these providers to run the service. Each processes personal data only on our instructions:
- Cloudflare: website hosting, edge traffic statistics, Email Routing.
- Hetzner: the servers for the API, the web app, the database and backups (EU).
- Microsoft (Microsoft 365): the sign-in code emails and the support mailbox. Sent sign-in emails and Microsoft's message traces are deleted under their own short retention periods.
- Apple and Google: sign-in (if you choose them), app distribution and purchases.
Where a provider transfers data outside the EU/EEA, the transfer is covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, as applicable to that provider.
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access and portability: "Export all my data" in the app or the web app gives you everything in a zip file;
- rectification of incorrect data;
- erasure: delete your account in the app or the web app; see how to delete your account;
- restriction of processing and objection to processing;
- withdraw consent at any time, for example by turning off usage statistics or crash reports.
To use any of these rights, write to support@testnmeasure.app. You can also complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet, datatilsynet.dk).
10. Children
TestNMeasure is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that age). We do not knowingly collect their personal data.
11. Changes
The version date at the top shows when this policy last changed. We will tell you in the app before a material change takes effect.
