Calculator

Cal Box: measure, then calculate

Measure 1.5 V, measure a 10 Ω resistor, and Cal Box suggests Ohm's law: 1.5 V ÷ 10 Ω = 150 mA. Cal Box is free.

iOS and Android, beta this winter.

Calculator in TestNMeasure: a suggestion card offering Ohm's law from the last two captured readings
Cal Box suggests Ohm's law from your last two captures.

The readings strip

Above the calculator, a strip shows the live reading, if a meter is connected, and the last 6 captures as chips, for example 1.543 V or 500.0 Ω. Tap a chip to put it into the focused preset input, converted to the input's unit if compatible. Incompatible chips are dimmed. A chip can also go into the expression line.

Ohm's law suggestion

When your last two captures are V and Ω, V and A, or A and Ω, in any order, opening Calc shows a suggestion card, such as "Ohm's law: 1.5 V ÷ 10 Ω = 150 mA", with a Use button.

From the meter screen

A Calc shortcut on the meter screen opens the calculator with the current reading focused. To freeze a value first, see Hold, REL, Min/Max.

Where a value came from

Values carried from readings keep their source link. The history shows, for example, "from capture 14:05:12".

  • Cal Box needs a live or captured reading, so it is in the apps, not on the web.

Questions

When does it suggest Ohm's law?

When your last two captures are V and Ω, V and A, or A and Ω, in any order.

Does it work on the web app?

Cal Box needs a live or captured reading, so it is in the iPhone and Android apps.
