Calculator Pro

Formulas inside test templates

Let a template do the arithmetic: a spread across cells, a difference between two pins, an average over a channel range. Creating and editing calculations is part of Pro; Pro is an in-app upgrade, see Pricing.

iOS and Android, beta this winter.

Run summary in TestNMeasure: overall result FAIL with counts and the list of failed pins
The run summary: overall result, counts and the failed pins.

Derived steps

A derived step computes when all its inputs have values. It recomputes when an input is redone. The result is checked against the step's limits like a reading, and exported as a row marked as calculated. For limits, see Pass/fail limits.

Examples that work:

  • step("Pin14") − step("Pin13")
  • step("V") × step("I")
  • (live − nominal("Rail 3V3")) / nominal("Rail 3V3") × 100
  • avg(ch("Pins 16–40", 1..25))
Step editor in TestNMeasure: a measurement step with the range limit 11.4–12.6 V
One step with a range limit of 11.4–12.6 V.

Summary calculations

A template-level summary calculation, such as "Avg Ω ch 16–40" or "Max deviation", is computed at finish and printed in the report summary.

Starter templates with derived steps

The cell-voltage spread in starter template 4 and the winding imbalance in starter template 6 are examples. To build your own, see the Template builder.

Imported templates and trial runs

Calculations in a template are always evaluated when it runs, including trial runs and imported templates. Only creating or editing them needs Pro.

Questions

Do imported templates still compute without Pro?

Yes. Calculations in a template are always evaluated when it runs, including trial runs and imported templates. Only creating or editing them needs Pro.

Can a formula use another run?

No. Formulas reference the current run only.
