Live meter
Scale readings for clamp adapters, shunts and dividers
Turn a clamp adapter's millivolts into amps, or correct a reading with a factor and offset. The rule applies to live readings and captures while it is enabled.
iOS and Android, beta this winter.

One formula, y = k·x + b
A scaling rule applies y = k·x + b. Use it for clamp adapters (1 mV/A to A), shunts, probe dividers and calibration offsets.
A rule has a name, a factor k (a decimal, not zero) and an offset b in the output unit and prefix. It also has an output unit and prefix, output decimals, and the input function it applies to. When the meter is on another function, the rule is inactive and flagged. The arithmetic is exact decimal, and the result is rounded half away from zero to the output decimals.
On screen
While a rule is active the readout shows the scaled value and a badge, such as ×1.3 or the rule's name. Long-press the badge to see the raw value.
The raw reading is kept
Captures and samples store the raw reading, the adjusted value and a snapshot of the rule. Exports show both.
Saved rules
You can save up to 20 rules, with one active at a time. Scaling does not apply inside test runs unless the step defines it; a step can reference a saved rule. See the template builder.
What it does and doesn't do (yet)
| What it does | Plan |
|---|---|
| Scale readings with a factor and an offset, for clamp adapters, shunts and probe dividers; the raw reading is kept. | Free |
Not yet, or not planned
- One scaling rule at a time (up to 20 saved); not applied inside runs unless the step uses it.
Questions
Is the raw reading kept?
Yes. Captures and samples store the raw reading, the adjusted value and the rule snapshot, and exports show both.
Does scaling apply inside test runs?
Not unless the step defines it. Steps may reference a saved scaling rule.
